Caffeine
Caffeine is a psychoactive and central nervous system stimulant. Consumption of caffeine is associated with many well-known psychologic and physiologic effects such as increased vigilance and attention, elevated mood, enhanced physical performance, short-term memory and cognitive performance. Reviews found that caffeine present as an adjuvant in combination with acetaminophen and codeine enhances analgesic efficacy and pain relief, compared to the analgesic alone. Caffeine significantly reduced pain and drowsiness. No serious adverse events were reported that were related to this combination.
